Compass Rose is a beloved daily gift store that specializes in modern goods from local artists, handcrafted jewelry and home decor. Owner Paul Shepard opened the first store in downtown Olympia in 1998, and three more Pacific Northwest locations have opened since then. Paul empowers his staff to make inventory and merchandising decisions, and the team works collaboratively to create a memorable shopping experience for their customers.
Enduring customer loyalty and retention has allowed Compass Rose to stay in business, grow, and open three new locations over the past twenty years. When the stores had to close for three months due to Covid, customers proactively purchased gift cards to show their support.
